RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army forces launched a strong and coordinated response after unprovoked firing from Afghan territory, destroying several border posts and killing dozens of Afghan soldiers and foreign militants, according to security sources.

The sources said Afghan forces opened fire without provocation along multiple points of the Pak-Afghan border, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baram Chah in Balochistan. The assault reportedly aimed to facilitate the infiltration of Khawarij militants into Pakistani territory.

Pakistani troops, already on high alert, retaliated swiftly and decisively, targeting Afghan positions with precision strikes. The exchange continued for several hours, resulting in the destruction of multiple Afghan posts and significant militant casualties.

According to the sources, the Pakistan Army’s response included the use of artillery, tanks, and both light and heavy weapons, while drones and air assets were also deployed to hit militant hideouts across the border. Several Taliban positions were reportedly abandoned during the engagement, with bodies seen scattered near damaged outposts.

Security officials further said that Pakistan’s counter-action neutralized multiple sanctuaries of ISIS and Fitna Al-Khawarij within Afghanistan, effectively dispersing hostile formations. Some Afghan posts failed to provide cover fire to the Indian-backed militant elements during the exchange, leading to heavy losses on their side.

The aggression from Afghan territory occurred while Afghanistan’s foreign minister was visiting India, security sources added.
