US President Donald Trump has sharply criticised NATO allies, stating that most countries did not support the United States in the war against Iran and asserting that the US no longer needs their assistance.
In a statement released on his social media platform, President Trump revealed that the US had requested help from its allies to ensure safe passage for commercial ships in the Gulf, particularly at a time when oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz were facing serious threats from Iran. However, most NATO countries were hesitant to participate in this military operation.
President Trump said that the US spends billions of dollars each year on the protection of its allies, yet those same countries do not support the US in times of need, suggesting that this alliance is often one-sided.
He stated that following recent military successes, the US no longer requires the help of NATO or any other allies, claiming that the United States is the most powerful nation in the world and does not need anyone’s military assistance. According to him, most countries agree that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
The President asserted that in the ongoing operations, US forces have caused significant damage to Iran’s military capabilities, claiming that the Iranian navy has been nearly destroyed, along with its air force, defence systems, and radar installations. He also mentioned that several high-ranking Iranian leaders have been killed in this conflict, leading to a decline in Iranian resistance.
