North Waziristan: The district administration has announced a curfew for the entire North Waziristan district on Sunday, January 18 as a result of security forces’ planned movement through the district, which they have also issued a public alert for.

As per the official announcement, the first day of the operation will be Sunday and during the period from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm the whole district will be under a curfew. To prevent trouble, the people living in the area have been advised to postpone any trips and activities that are not necessary during the curfew hours.

The government is asking the citizens to take precautions and at the same time to give total support to the police in order to keep the peace and security in the locality.

Moreover, the officials came out with the existing nightly restrictions as part of security measures that will continue to be in effect. The civilian movement during these hours is banned completely from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, and the residents in the area have been told to stay indoors during these hours.

The district administration remarked that public safety is the reason for the limitations and at the same time facilitating the smooth execution of operational activities by the security forces.

 

 

People in North Waziristan stage  sit-in against Khawarij

Earlier, the residents of North Waziristan on Friday staged sit in the Shiwa area against miscreant activities and blowing up a bridge over the Kurram River in the Shiwa Tehsil of North Waziristan.

On January 14, 2026, the Khawarij blew up an important communication bridge on the Kurram River in the Shiwa Tehsil of North Waziristan with explosives. After this incident, elders, youth, able-bodied youth, and people belonging to every school of thought protested against the Khawarij, and on this occasion, it was decided that a full-scale protest would be held on Saturday, January 17.

The bridge destroyed in the attack was not just a route for the local population but also a primary means of economic activities, educational access, and access to medical facilities. After the incident, a wave of intense anger and resentment against the Khawarij spread among the people of the area. The local population strongly condemned this cowardly act and called it an open attack on the peace, development, and public facilities of the area.

Hatred against Khawarij has taken the form of a mass movement across the length and breadth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which is proof that the people of Pakistan are with their law enforcement against Khawarij.

Now is the time for the entire nation to be more united than ever, more vigilant than ever, and to stand firm with their security agencies. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have decided that they will not sit idly by until the last terrorist is eliminated from their land.
