PESHAWAR: Director General Inter Services Public Relations(ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said that terrorist safe havens are in Afghanistan, and the Pakistan army is fully equipped to root out the menace of terrorism from the country.

Addressing a Press Conference in Peshawar Corps Headquarters, DG ISPR said that through a well-planned conspiracy, terrorists were brought to the country under the name of reconciliation, but this policy was against the country’s national interest, and those who were settled are now attacking Pakistani security forces and Police. He also run a video of the prominent TTP Commander Noor Wali Mehsud, who was running his banned organisation against Pakistan in the border areas of Afghanistan. He stressed to strengthen counter counter-terrorism department of the country, not only in the federal capital but also in all provincial headquarters.

He rejected the propaganda of certain political elements against security forces and police. He said that it is the responsibility of the media to highlight the sacrifices of the Pakistan army and police.

“We salute the martyrs of the war against terrorism, and we are really proud of the sacrifices of the martyrs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the cause of this country,” He remarked. He also stressed the need to counter smuggling activities on the border, which is also one of the root causes of terrorism. He said that most of the terrorists and criminals are illegal Afghan nationals, and whenever action is taken, they are considered our brothers.

Political-criminal nexus behind terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Director General ISPR said that there is a political-criminal nexus behind terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that whenever someone asks for a military operation against terrorism, certain political elements are opposing it. He rejected the propaganda of certain political elements against security forces and police.
