PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that denying the share of merged districts would be a clear violation of Article 160 of the Constitution.
An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, in which he was given a detailed briefing on the NFC award and the share of the province. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was given a comprehensive briefing on NFC, in which the financial and constitutional rights of the province were discussed in detail.
The meeting reiterated the resolve to continue the vigorous struggle at every forum to achieve the rights of the province, while it was also decided to vigorously and effectively defend the interests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the NFC meeting. It was informed in the briefing that the administrative integration of the former FATA has been completed, but the financial integration has not been achieved yet. Since the merger of the former FATA, Rs 1375 billion has been generated from the merged districts under NFC, which has not been provided yet.
At the time of the merger of the former FATA, it was promised to provide Rs 100 billion annually, which has so far been Rs 700 billion. Of this, the federation released only Rs 168 billion, while Rs 531.9 billion is still due to the federation. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that denying the share of the merged districts in the NFC is a violation of Article 160 of the Constitution, and the financial and constitutional rights of the province will be fully protected.
Senior PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, PTI provincial President Junaid Akbar, Atif Khan, Ali Asghar, and others attended the meeting, while Provincial Minister Meena Khan, Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam, Chief Secretary, and Finance Secretary were also present in the meeting.
