PESHAWAR: The dengue situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become increasingly alarming, where the mosquito-borne disease cases still coming up constantly. The provincial health department’s latest report has confirmed that within a day, 42 new dengue patients were found positive.

According to the report, the number of active dengue cases in the province has grown to 257, while the total count of people infected this year is 3,404.

The health authorities have emphasized that the new case statistics are alarming, but on the other hand, the number of patients who have been cured is also quite large, to this moment, 3,145 persons have survived the virus.

Nevertheless, the province had a case of two dengue deaths even this year. The governing bodies in the area have taken extensive measures to combat the disease, such as whole neighborhood fumigation and running health education programs to stop the virus from transmission.

In collaboration with the Department of Public Health, the government has been asking people to take precautionary measures such as getting rid of places where water stands and applying insect repellent so they could be safe and their family members too.
