ISLAMABAD: Retired military officer and defence analyst Col (retd) Inaam-ur-Raheem has alleged the existence of a nexus involving former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and former chief justice Saqib Nisar, claiming it influenced political and institutional affairs during the previous government.
Speaking on Hum News programme Faisla Aap Ka, Col Raheem said that under Section 31 of the Pakistan Army Act, even civilians could be tried if evidence existed of attempts to spread dissatisfaction or incite revolt within the armed forces.
He alleged that while Imran Khan was incarcerated, Faiz Hameed attempted to gain access to him through members of the jail administration, adding that records existed identifying the officials he had contacted.
According to Col Raheem, Faiz Hameed believed he was beyond accountability due to his alleged close links with both Imran Khan and former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar. He said this was the first time in Pakistan’s history that a former intelligence chief — described as a key pillar of the state — had been tried by military authorities, calling the move a significant institutional decision.
Col Raheem further alleged that Faiz Hameed maintained direct connections with Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar and cited journalist Fakhar Durrani as claiming that two luxury vehicles seized from the residence of the Top City owner had been gifted by Faiz Hameed to the former chief justice. He claimed that one vehicle was used by Justice (retd) Nisar himself, while the other was given to his son.
He added that despite being contacted by Fakhar Durrani for a denial, Justice (retd) Nisar had not publicly rejected the claim. Col Raheem also alleged that a Rangers official informed him that during Faiz Hameed’s trial, one of the seized vehicles was recovered from Justice (retd) Nisar’s son.
Addressing the alleged Faiz Hameed–Imran Khan link, Col Raheem claimed that evidence connected the former ISI chief with PTI leaders involved in the May 9 violence. He alleged that individuals who went into hiding after the unrest, including some YouTubers, were given shelter at Faiz Hameed’s farmhouse.
He further claimed that Faiz Hameed remained in contact with Imran Khan’s close political associates before and after the May 9 incidents, using frequently changed SIM cards and intermediaries to relay instructions. According to Col Raheem, phone records of these communications were available and had been traced despite the alleged attempts to evade surveillance.
