LANDI KOTAL: As many as three persons of a family including father and son of Neki Khel, sub tribe of Zakha Khel were died when a Peshawar bound vehicle was washed away in flash flood here in Wali Khel village of tehsil Landi Kotal district Khyber on Saturday, police and locals said.
They said that the ill- fated persons boarded in a taxi car when their vehicle was washed away in heavy flood.
Later on the bodies were retrieved in the Gorgora and Ali Masjid area and were shifted to a health center for medico-legal formalities, they said.
The deceased were identified as Qadoos, son of Fareed; Fazal Muhammad and his son Niaz Muhammad Afridi of Neiki Khel village.
The incident was so sudden that the flood could not provide an opportunity to the victims to escape, an eyewitness said.
The taxi vehicle was also destroyed in the flood, they said.
Deputy Commissioner (DC).Khyber Capt.(Retd)Bilal Shahid along with Additional DC Irshad Mohmand and Assistant Commissioner,Landi Kotal,Inamullah Khan, Station House Officer,Landi Kotal police station Ishrat Shinwari visited Neiki Khel village, offered prayers for the departed souls and condoled with the bereaved family.
DC expressed his grief over the human loss and assured every possible assistance to the affected family.
The officials also urged the locals to strictly follow preventive measures while crossing the spillways in Khyber to ensure public safety.
On Saturday evening funeral prayers of the deceased were offered at Takya site, Sultan Khal and were buried in their ancestral graveyard.
Meanwhile, besides lives lost, torrential rain caused damages to a number of properties in Landi Kotal.
Scores of rooms and walls collapsed due to heavy downpour, locals said.
