PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arrested an Afghan suicide bomber along with his handler in Bajaur, in a successful joint anti-terror operation with the Elite Force and local police.
It was reported that the CTD SWAT teams, Elite Force members, and Bajaur Police were looking for targets when they received information that two suspicious persons had been spotted in a nearby dry stream. The security team immediately surrounded the area. The suspects, trying to escape, saw the police party, but after a well-coordinated chase, both were caught.
According to the initial inquiry, the foreign national arrested in Pakistan was identified as Qais, son of Shah Khan, a resident of Olaswali Charbolak, Balkh Province. He was found to have come with a plan of a suicide attack in Pakistan. According to the report, Rafiullah son of Noor Muhammad, a resident of Inam Khoro Chingi, was the man who not only controlled but also helped his activities.
The police said that three hand grenades were recovered from the militants during the police operation and an IED was found in a blue bag, which was wrapped around the body of the suicide bomber. There was also a detonating fuse and some explosive material.

Five terrorists were killed in a joint operation of Counter Terrorism police and local people in the Havid area of Bannu on Saturday.
On information about the presence of Khawarij in the border area of Takhtikhel/Hawid, the district Bannu police and CTD jointly conducted an important and decisive operation resulting killing of five Khawarji terrorists during an exchange of fire, while all police personnel remained safe during the encounter.
This operation is being carried out under the direct supervision of Regional Police Officer Bannu Sajjad Khan. RPO Sajjad Khan said that the personnel of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are always ready to maintain law and order and protect the public, and these operations are a practical proof of this determination.
The police received full support and cooperation from the public during the operation. The residents of the area stood by the police and continuously provided information about suspicious activities, which greatly helped in making the operation successful. The locals said that they stand in complete solidarity with the brave soldiers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for the peace of their land. IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed praised the timely and effective action of the Bannu and Lakki Marwat police and said that such successful operations to eliminate the Khawarij will ensure lasting peace in the area.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has made it clear that terrorists will not be allowed to find a haven anywhere, and this joint operation will continue to consolidate peace.
