HARIPUR: In a joint operation against the timber mafia in Haripur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police and the Forest Department recovered multiple trucks and seized illegal equipment used for logging.

According to local sources, the operation was carried out in the Pharhari hills, where the timber mafia was illegally felling walnut and olive trees.

On receiving the report, divisional forest officer (DFO) Abrar Ahmed Khan and sub-divisional forest officer (SDFO) Aziz Khan arrived at the scene and took immediate notice of the timber smugglers activities.

During the operation, several trucks belonging to the timber mafia were seized, along with chainsaws, axes, cutters, and other tools used for illegal logging.

Sources added that previous actions had been taken against the same timber smugglers by the forest department, which included fines and confiscation of illegal equipment.

Local residents had reported the illegal felling of walnut and olive trees in the Pharhari hills, prompting swift action from authorities.

The successful operation was praised, and DFO Abrar Ahmed Khan and SDFO Aziz Khan were commended for their efforts.

Authorities also announced that stricter measures would be implemented to curb the timber mafia’s activities in the region.
