Accountability  court has issued an order to arrest and produce Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for his continuous absence.

This decision has come in the context of a case pending in an Islamabad court, which includes allegations of making misleading allegations against the Chief Minister against state institutions and tarnishing their reputation.

During the hearing, Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Sohail Afridi and adjourned the further hearing of the case till January 17. The court clarified that continuous absence is tantamount to violation of the court’s orders, and action is necessary according to the law.

According to sources, the case against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has been registered by the NCCIA under the PECA Act, and it includes allegations of making inflammatory statements and damaging the reputation of the government and state institutions.

According to analysts, the matter could create tension in the relationship between the provincial government and federal institutions, and the possible outcome of the legal action will be monitored in the upcoming hearing.
