ISLAMABAD: In a landmark verdict, a division bench of the Islamabad High Court, comprising Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan, declared the appointment of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri as a judge null and void.

The decision came after the court accepted a petition filed by Mian Dawood, Advocate, challenging Justice Jahangiri’s degree credentials. The verdict was reserved earlier today following detailed arguments from both sides.

Several high-profile legal figures were present in the courtroom, including Advocate General Islamabad Ayaz Shaukat, Additional Attorney General Rashid Hafeez, and numerous lawyers.

Justice Jahangiri had filed multiple applications during the proceedings, including requests for the formation of a full court, postponement of the case pending the Sindh High Court’s decision, and objections to the bench. All these applications were rejected by the court.

Following the verdict, Justice Jahangiri has been de-notified to the Law Ministry as per the court’s order.
