The Peshawar High Court has stopped the Election Commission’s possible action against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

The court issued a notice to the Election Commission after the initial hearing and sought a response within 14 days. This decision was announced on a petition filed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur against the Election Commission’s notice. The case was heard by a two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Muhammad Fahim Wali.

During the hearing, Justice Arshad Ali asked, “How can the Election Commission take action after 90 days?” The Election Commission’s Deputy Director Law took the stand that there is a Supreme Court decision under which action can be taken against corrupt practices at any time, there is no time limit on it.”

After hearing the arguments, the court restrained the Election Commission from taking any action until further notice and sought a detailed response within 14 days. According to legal experts, this decision is a temporary relief for Ali Amin Gandapur, however, the Election Commission’s future stance will determine the course of the case.
