DIAMER: Intermittent heavy rainfall and snowfall have continued in northern areas, including Chilas city of the district Diamer and its surrounding regions, for the past two days, disrupting daily life and causing severe difficulties for residents.
According to the Diamer Meteorological Department, heavy snowfall has been reported across the mountains and upper areas of the area. It said that more than 10 feet of snow has accumulated on Nanga Parbat, while Babusar Top, a popular tourist destination, has received over seven feet of snow till now.
The Diamer Meteorological Department also reported that intermittent heavy snowfall continued in Darail, Tangir, Gohar Abad, Thak, and other nearby localities.
The ongoing rain and snowfall have further increased the cold, forcing local people to remain restricted to their homes.
The situation has been worsened by unannounced power outages in Chilas city and the surrounding areas.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel, while meteorologists have warned that heavy snow and rain may continue in the coming days.
