PM Shehbaz urges Trump to extend deadline for peace talks

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism over ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the war in the Middle East.

In a tweet posted earlier today, the Prime Minister stated that the diplomatic process is “progressing steadily, strongly, and powerfully,” with the potential to yield significant results in the near future.

In his message, PM Sharif made a direct appeal to US President Donald Trump, urging him to extend the current deadline for peace talks by two weeks to allow diplomacy to unfold fully. He stated, “To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks.”

The Prime Minister also called on Iran to cooperate, asking the Iranian leadership to open the Strait of Hormuz for the same two-week period as a gesture of goodwill, which could help create an atmosphere conducive to peace talks.

Furthermore, PM Sharif urged all warring parties to observe a ceasefire for two weeks to enable diplomatic efforts to move forward without further escalation of violence. “We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of the war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region,” he added.

The Prime Minister’s tweet highlights Pakistan’s continued commitment to supporting efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East, with an emphasis on dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful negotiation. His call for a ceasefire and extended diplomatic window signals Pakistan’s dedication to promoting regional stability and long-term peace.

The conflict in the Middle East has drawn international concern, with nations around the world watching closely to see whether diplomatic efforts can bring about an end to the hostilities and prevent further escalation.
