PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Tuesday ordered the formation of a special committee to oversee and ensure effective implementation of the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan.
Chairing a meeting on the project, the chief minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi said the committee would be responsible for monitoring progress, coordinating among departments and ensuring the timely execution of all proposed initiatives. He directed that clear timelines be set for each component of the plan to achieve tangible results.
Mr Afridi said Peshawar was the face of the province and all available resources would be provided on a priority basis for its uplift. He stressed the need for improved solid waste management, sewage, drainage and water supply systems, along with urban afforestation.
During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that the revitalisation plan includes upgradation and beautification of major roads, traffic management measures, improvement of civic facilities, restoration of historical sites and development of public parks. Proposals for the establishment of a Walled City and Horticulture Authority were also discussed, with the chief minister directing the concerned departments to initiate groundwork.
The chief minister reiterated that strict monitoring through the special committee would be key to ensuring transparency, accountability and timely completion of the revitalisation plan.
