The administration of Lady Reading Hospital(LRH) refused to abide order of the Chief Minister to remove Dr. Ibrar, Director of LRH Peshawar and cited the reason that he would automatically retire on December 31.
Hospital spokesperson Muhammad Asim said that the vacancy of the director has already been advertised, and the process is underway to appoint a new director. He clarified that the reason for dismissing Dr. Ibrar is not poor performance, but rather not to give further extension after the end of his tenure.
It should be noted that Dr. Ibrar’s tenure was to end on December 31, 2025, after five years. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had earlier directed removal of the hospital director from his post in view of poor performance.
The hospital’s board of governors had also appointed an inquiry committee on the matter, which was directed to submit a report within three days. However, despite the committee’s report, action was not taken immediately against the hospital director, and finally, the Chief Minister’s orders were implemented two weeks later.
According to health experts, the administrative changes at Lady Reading Hospital are expected to improve the institution’s performance and promote transparency in the delivery of services.
