ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi with 15 people, has organized a sit-in protest, requesting to be allowed to meet PTI founder, who is at present kept in Adiala Jail.
CM Afridi expressed his determination that the protest would continue until he was finally allowed to meet the party leader, stressing the need for him to check on Imran Khan’s health and the political situation personally.
The lack of participation in the protest has drawn severe criticism by the public and observers. They indicate that the political movement of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Afridi and others has become more and more limited to protests and calls for the release of Imran Khan rather than making substantial political progress or tackling the issue of governance.
Earlier, traffic remained jammed on Adiala road, and a large number of people remained stranded in their vehicles due to the PTI sit-in under the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi near Gorakhpur check posts.
Talking to the media at Gorakhpur checkpoint in Rawalpindi, he said that we have adopted all legal and democratic means. I wanted to come to the sit-in, but the sisters of the founder of PTI forbade me.
Sohail Afridi asked the journalists Do you think this government has any authority? Negotiations were held with the government on the instructions of the founder of PTI, but they have no authority.
He said that what happened on February 8, the same thing that happened on November 23. They believe that the people’s trust in democracy will be lost. 95% of people did not come out to vote in the recent by-election. The people of Punjab expressed solidarity with the founder of PTI by not voting.
The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that our concerns are increasing due to not meeting the founder of PTI. I did not want to hold negotiations with the government, because they do not have a mandate. He said that the IMF has presented a charge sheet against the current government, journalists should talk about the corruption of 5300 billion, this money is the tax money of the common man, unemployment is touching the sky, the youth are leaving Pakistan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi says that questions will also be asked of those who looted the public mandate. I will participate in the NFC to fight the case of my province. The government has postponed the NFC meeting four times.
