PESHAWAR: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, has slammed the federal government for failing to honor its commitments to the merged districts of the province.

While speaking at the Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Afridi took the recent actions of the federal government as a point for his argument, and particularly their surprise move regarding the Afghan refugee camps. “The federal government issued a notice regarding Afghan camps overnight. We will take our due rights from the federal government,” he asserted.

The bulletproof vehicles issue was also raised by Afridi, who said they were old and nearing the end of their lifespan. He had to return them as if they were no good. “The police got the expired bulletproof vehicles only two days ago. “It is an insult to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, and we are sending them back,” Afridi said.

The Chief Minister was extremely happy because of the peace talks between the two countries but he nonetheless warned that the province’s poor security was the most important cause of death. “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people are supporting PTI for its excellent performance, but security is still a major concern,” Afridi said.

Afridi was very critical of the slow and difficult decision-making process in the province and frankly said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was being decided in the background. “We will not accept decisions made in secret rooms. We will think of our own policies,” he said.

In honor of the deceased journalist Arshad Sharif, Afridi declared the establishment of a university in his name as one of the initiatives he is going to do.

In addition, the Chief Minister hinted that no arrests would take place in the province and no legal actions against the students would be taken as long as the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance was in effect.
