PESHAWAR: Sohail Afridi, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was very concerned about the PTI founder’s right to meet with the family, which even the court had clearly ordered, was violated. CM Afridi wrote an official letter to the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz demanding to put things in order at once.
In his letter to the Punjab Chief Minister, CM Afridi highlighted the fact that the sisters of Imran Khan were denied meeting their brother in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi despite having court permission.
He said they not only blocked the family members from meeting the former PM but also ill-treated them as the elderly women were forced to sit on the roadside nearly a kilometre away from the jail. Mr Afridi likened this treatment to inhumanity and claimed it was not only a violation of the orders of the court but also a breach of the law.
The KP CM has these four demands from the Punjab government:
The first is the immediate execution of the court orders with regard to the meeting with PTI founder.
The second demands that the police authorities responsible for the ill-treatment of the Khan family be brought to justice.
Thirdly, proper guidance is needed moving forward to the police and jail regarding secret meetings that might happen.
Fourthly, an encouraging system that would make it easier and more lawful to organize meetings with prisoners.
CM Afridi also pointed out that Imran Khan is the leader of the party that handed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to him through the ballot, so it is beyond question that any violation of his rights should be tolerated. He also said he believed the Punjab government would not let it go and would take the jurisdiction as well as the dignity of the human being seriously and act accordingly.
