ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has chaired an emergency and important parliamentary party meeting at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad on Wednesday.
According to details, the meeting was also attended by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, Provincial President Junaid Akbar Khan, Provincial General Secretary Ali Asghar Khan, provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants, and members of the provincial assembly.
Various urgent issues were the main focus of this inter-parliamentary meeting that took place in the most unfortunate and tragic context in front of the Adiala jail. The ongoing political instability in the country, which has been a concern for quite some time, the debated 27th Constitutional Amendment, and other important issues were also included among the factors. The parliamentary committee reacted to these issues with a strong position.
Condemnation of Violence
The meeting vehemently condemned all the acts of state violence, and inhumane treatment which were directed to the three sisters of Imran Khan, along with Provincial Minister Meena Khan, National Assembly member Shahid Khatak, and Provincial Assembly member Abdul Salam.
Protests against the 27th Amendment
The meeting also discussed the protests against 27th Amendment on Friday. The protests will be a clear sign that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
No Tolerance for Disrespect to Provincial Leaders
The provincial government, ministers, and assembly members cannot imagine a situation where any disrespect or insult may be shown to them at any level and they will not stand for it. Should the incidents of such nature be repeated, the province, without any doubt, will counterattack with all the forces at its disposal, constitutional and political ones.
Rejection of Federal and Punjab Government Actions
The meeting dismissed the actions of the federal and Punjab governments that were characterized as biased, violent, and violating the constitution. All these manoeuvres damage trust between provinces and go against the rights of the provinces.
The committee talked about the inhuman treatment of Imran Khan’s three sisters and considered it an absolutely unforgivable, completely immoral, and shameful kind of behaviour, especially in an area where a woman who has not been elected is being forced to give the government through rigging.
The provincial government, ministers, parliamentarians, and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are strongly with their leader Imran Khan, his sisters, and all their elected representatives. The committee pledged that they will not succumb to pressure, threats, or political blackmail, even for a moment. If such activities were not stopped, the counteractions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would have gone to the next level with tremendous force.
