ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has stated that the federal government is creating controversy by misrepresenting the speech given by Qasim Khan, the son of PTI founder Imran Khan.

While speaking to the media at KPK House, Afridi explained that Qasim Khan’s recent speech had been deliberately distorted by the federal government to incite controversy. He noted that the speech was translated into Urdu in an effort to clarify its meaning, yet it is still being misinterpreted.

The Chief Minister said that Qasim Khan’s expression was an emotional tribute to his father and should not be politicised. “This was simply a son expressing concern for his father, but it is being portrayed in a political light,” he said.

Additionally, Afridi slammed the attempt to link this situation to the GSP Plus status, calling it a misunderstanding. He pointed out that Pakistan has established regular agreements with the European Union regarding this matter.

Afridi argued that the federal government is distorting the facts and highlighted that the real issue at hand is the state of democracy in the country. He asserted that the democratic process has been undermined in Pakistan for decades and that the current circumstances are merely a continuation of this trend.
