ISLAMABAD: As many as 12 persons have been martyred and 22 others seriously injured when a suicide bomber exploded himself in Khadija Al-Kubra mosque in Tarlai area in the outskirts of Rawalpindi on Friday.
According to initial reports, the suicide bomber was spotted earlier, and an attempt was made to stop him, but he blew himself up. Police and rescue teams immediately reached the spot while the IG Islamabad has imposed an emergency in the city. Immediately after the blast, an emergency has been imposed in the federal capital’s polyclinic, PIMS, and CDA Hospital. On the instructions of the emergency department, the main emergency, orthopedic, burn center, and neuro departments have been fully activated.

Hospital sources said that 12 people have been martyred and 22 others were seriously injured. The injured were shifted to PIMS and Polyclinic hospitals of the capital city.
A heavy contingent of police and security forces have been deployed in the surrounding areas of the attack and search operation underway to arrest any suspected miscreants. Police said that they are investigating the attack from all angles and soon they will arrest the handlers of Fitna Al Khwarij
Soon after the attack, State Minister for Interior Tala Chaudhri visited PIMS hospital and enquired about the injured persons. He strongly condemned the terrorist attack on worship places and promised to arrest the perpetrator soon.
