MUMBAI: Australian player Cameron Green has turned into the prized international cricketer ever in the Indian Premier League (IPL) following his purchase by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the 2026 campaign.
During an auction, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders contended to acquire Green’s talents. Eventually, KKR clinched the deal for ₹25.2 crore, breaking records and establishing a fresh high for foreign players in the IPL.
Earlier, the highest fee paid for a player was by KKR when they acquired Australian pacer Mitchell Starc for ₹24.75 crore during the 2024 season.
Cameron Green has earlier played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, enhancing his status as a desired all-rounder.
To provide some background the priciest player in IPL history continues to be Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants in the previous season for ₹27 crore.
