BUNER: Residents of Buner have expressed severe concern over the poor condition of Buner Rustam road and demanded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Federal Minister Ameer Muqam to start work on the Swabi-Buner expressway to reduce the duration of time and worries for patients.

It is one of the important roads connecting Buner with Mardan, Peshawar, and Islamabad, facing worse conditions these days, as no one is serious about asking about the expansion of this vital artery to connect it without the Ismaila Interchange Sawabi.

This important road in Buner, which runs from Ambela Check Post to Rustam Chowk, is of utmost importance to local life. The condition of this road has been deteriorating continuously for the past several years. Traveling becomes torture. As a result, not only are daily commuters facing difficulties, but the number of accidents on this road has also increased immensely.

According to a report, at least 15 major accidents have taken place on this road in the last six months, in which several people were injured and some lost their lives. The main reasons for these accidents are the road’s deterioration, sinking into potholes, and the accumulation of water on the road. Thousands of vehicles and motorcycles ply this road every day, but due to the poor condition of the road, there is always a risk of accidents.

When the road is in disrepair, taking patients to the hospital becomes a difficult and dangerous task. Especially for patients who are in an emergency, it becomes very difficult for them to travel on this road. Due to the delay in reaching the hospital, sometimes the condition of the patients worsens, or they do not get immediate treatment.

This is a problem not only for the locals, but also for patients coming from faraway areas, who try to reach the hospitals by traveling on this road. Locals have repeatedly requested that government agencies repair this road, but unfortunately, no practical action has been taken on this issue yet.

Government representatives often make promises to repair the road “soon”, but the fulfilment of these promises is getting delayed as time passes. Locals say that this road is so important that immediate steps should be taken on it to protect the lives of the people.

If the government pays attention to the repair of this road, it will not only reduce accidents, but also improve the lives of the people. Patients will get timely treatment, and travelers will not face problems due to the poor condition of the road. Along with the improved condition of the road, local businesses will also flourish because the trade routes will be clean and safe, and movement will be easier.

In this difficult situation, the local community has also started efforts on its own. Some organizations and civic groups are pressuring the local government to repair the road. They say that if the government does not take immediate steps, they will resort to protests to highlight their problems.

The historic highway in Buner from Ambela Check Post to Rustam Chowk is not only important for daily travel but also for the safety of the health and lives of patients. The people are facing severe difficulties due to the dilapidated condition of the road, and the government is expected to repair and reconstruct the road immediately. This issue requires urgent attention so that the people can be provided with safe and easy travel facilities.
