WASHINGTON: Former CIA Director John Brennan declared that he believes Iran’s diplomatic stance to be more credible than what Donald Trump presents through his foreign policy methods which he uses to handle US relations with Iran.
Brennan claimed in a recent interview that Trump would not accept the truth about Iran’s position because there existed substantial proof that showed its actual stance about the negotiation talks. The Trump nuclear deal with Iran policy assessment showed him trying to escape from his administration’s policy failures, according to Brennan.
Brennan responded to Trump’s repeated assertions that Iran showed interest in negotiations with the United States through his analysis of Tehran’s behaviour. Brennan stated that “Iran is not engaging in any serious discussions with the Trump administration” to reject the belief that Washington and Tehran were involved in serious talks.
Brennan expressed his belief that Iranian authorities speak with more credibility than Trump. He showed through his statement that the Iranian government does not want to negotiate with the former president. Brennan showed Trump had no understanding of Iran’s actual intentions because Iran maintained the same position throughout the time that Trump made positive declarations about its activities.
Brennan who served as CIA Director from 2013 to 2017 used his comments to reject Trump’s foreign policy choices which he made regarding Iran. Trump had previously withdrawn the United States from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, a move that had severely strained US-Iran relations.
Brennan’s statement shows that intelligence agencies still doubt how Trump handled international relations during his presidency. Some analysts believe that Trump’s diplomatic recognition problems damaged US international standing so he could not establish proper diplomatic relations.
Brennan’s latest criticism strengthens the ongoing argument about how successful Trump achieved his foreign policy goals during his dealings in the Middle East. The former CIA Director spoke about US-Iran relations to show how complicated US diplomatic efforts in the region have become.
