PESHAWAR (Shahid Jan): After a long break and disruption in cricket matches in Peshawar city, a final decision has been taken to hold the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Peshawar this year.
A high-level meeting was held at Corps Headquarters Peshawar to review the overall security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhamad Sohail Afridi, National Security Advisor, and Corps Commander Peshawar, as well as senior civil and military officials.
During the meeting, tributes were paid to the civilians and security personnel martyred in terrorist incidents.
It was decided in the meeting that this year’s PSL matches will be held in Peshawar.
It was decided in the meeting that the provincial government administration in Malakand division will be implemented as a model immediately under the supervision of the provincial police and other provincial institutions. Later, this successful model will be implemented in the affected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially Khyber, Orakzai and Kurram, in a phased manner.
It was decided to form a special sub-committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister to effectively monitor all development projects being launched in these districts and review any military operations. It will hold review meetings on a monthly basis.
This special sub-committee, headed by the Chief Minister, will include elected public representatives, Corps Commander Peshawar, Chief Secretary, IG Police and provincial officials as well as representatives of federal institutions.
The meeting decided that this special sub-committee will monitor projects in the areas of governance and development in these districts and create alternative employment opportunities to ensure permanent income for the local population.
In addition, this committee will also make effective arrangements to resolve the problems of temporarily displaced persons.
Through effective communication between the Federation and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, complete coordination and a common stance on important policy issues will be ensured to deal with the important issue of terrorism.
Sustainable employment opportunities will be created to prevent extremist thinking and promote positive thinking among the youth.
The meeting decided to continue strict measures against illegal activities like illegal SIM cards, explosives, and extortion. In addition, focus will also be given to phased profiling of non-customs paid vehicles.
