ISLAMABAD: The PTA provides free toll-free number calls to all mobile phone users. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced that all mobile phone users can make toll-free calls to 0800-XXXXX numbers at no cost.
The service previously operated as a fixed-line service that enabled users to call toll-free numbers without charges. The system charged mobile users for toll-free number calls, which resulted in consumer complaints about the service.
The PTA public announcement declared that it would investigate the public complaints about telecom service access and provide equal service for all customers. The new policy eliminated all charges for mobile phone users who call toll-free numbers.
The authority conducted stakeholder meetings with PTCL, the National Telecommunication Corporation local loop operators and cellular mobile operators. After detailed discussions, it was agreed that calls to local loop toll-free numbers would be free for all users.
The PTA maintains its commitment to protect consumer rights while creating a fair and user-friendly telecommunications system that serves all of Pakistan.
PTA allows overseas Pakistanis to keep SIM cards active
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has unveiled one of the most significant steps ever taken to assist overseas Pakistanis and ensure that they have mobile services uninterrupted while living abroad.
The PTA has stated that overseas Pakistanis will now be allowed to keep saying “hi” through their mobile phones, and that their Pakistani SIM cards will not be locked anymore during their overseas stay.
This move is thus a way of making things easier for the diaspora, who may need to keep in touch with their family and business in Pakistan as well as through other required means. Overseas Pakistanis who would like to use this service can contact their respective mobile operators.
In the words of the PTA, “It’s a big step that will ensure Pakistanis living outside the country will have unbreakable access to telecommunication services, thus importing Pakistan’s friendliness to their doors”.
