PESHAWAR: A representative Jirga of the Lakki Marwat Bettani tribe appealed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to play a role in the provision of free gas connections from the gas plant established by OGDCL in their area.

The delegation met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor’s House on Wednesday and apprised him regarding the issues faced by the Bettani tribe. The delegation, led by Maulana Malik Muhammad Umar Ashrafi, Malik Hidayatullah, Malik Shirin, Malik Kamal Shah, Malik Sher Afzal, Malik Fida Muhammad, and other dignitaries. The delegation informed the governor about regional issues, especially regarding the OGDCL plant in the area. They said that their region is rich with mineral resources, and it is their due right to be given royalties for their resources.

They said that so far, the local population has not taken any significant benefit from this project. Despite promises and agreements, free gas connections were not provided to the Bettani people. Governor Faisal Kareem Kundi assured resolving their issues and vowed to convey their grievances to the Prime Minister. Faisal Karim Kundi said that the local population has the first right over national resources and development and prosperity could be ensured by benefiting the local population from local resources.,

The Governor remarked that there is a regular procedure for providing gas connections and other facilities to the population of gas-rich areas, while concerns of the Bettani people would be discussed with OGDCL officials, Faisal Karim Kundi.
