BANNU: The Bannu Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan has said that Bannu witnessed 134 militant attacks in the current year 2025. 27 police officers lost their lives in the line of duty in these terror attacks.
In view of the overall law and order situation in Bannu district, Bannu police took vigorous, effective and fruitful operations against Fitnatul Khawarij (FAKs) and other terrorist elements.
Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan said in a media briefing that according to the current year’s figures, a total of 134 terrorist attacks targeting police stations, police posts, roadblocks, police mobiles and police parties were recorded in Bannu district.
In these attacks, 27 police personnel were martyred while 79 were injured. As a result of timely and courageous police counter-action, 53 terrorists were killed, and 163 were injured.
Bannu police conducted 168 Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) across the district, during which 105 terrorists were arrested, while 65 terrorists were killed. Thus, a total of 170 successful operations were carried out against terrorists.
Police and security forces jointly conducted successful operations in the areas of Miryan, Hoveed, Daud Shah, Mamand Khel, Domel and Burganto. During these joint operations, one police constable was martyred while 11 policemen and 5 civilians were injured.
In these operations, 22 terrorists were killed, and 4 were arrested, while several terrorist houses were also demolished.
20 drone attacks were carried out by terrorists to target police installations and the civilian population, in which 19 policemen were injured, while 9 civilians were martyred and 33 were injured.
However, after the installation of an anti-drone system in Bannu district on July 18, 2025, the situation improved significantly and more than 300 drone attacks were foiled while 04 drones were spoofed.
Despite limited resources, HESCO barriers, bunkers, double boundary walls, bulletproof gates and CCTV cameras were installed to protect police installations.
Along with this, work was also started on the Safe City project to ensure the safety of both police personnel and the public.
Jirgas were held with the elders of different areas for joint operations against terrorists. This yielded positive results, and Chagha parties were formed.
With public support, attacks by Fitna-ul-Kharij on various police stations and checkpoints were foiled. While successful operations against Fitna-ul-Kharij were possible in various areas, including Kaki, Bharat, Khojri, Burganto, and Sheikh Landak.
To make Bannu Police compatible with modern requirements, the force has been equipped with drones, anti-drone guns, sniper rifles, APCs, thermal imaging systems, tactical helmets and bulletproof vehicles.
Bannu Police reiterates its resolve to continue its struggle for the establishment of law and order in the district, complete eradication of terrorism and protection of the lives and property of the public.
