BANNU: Students of the University of Science and Technology (USTB) on Thursday blocked the Kohat road in Bannu and staged a protest against the alleged violence by the university administration and police.
The protesters blocked the Bannu-Kohat Road in front of the IT campus, causing severe traffic jams and long queues of vehicles on Kohat Road, while commuters faced severe difficulties.
The protesters said that the university administration had prevented the students from holding the program despite permission. According to the students, the Vice Chancellor of the university had issued a formal permission for the award show, but despite this, the university security tortured the students. The protesters alleged that the university administration, with the help of the police, mistreated and tortured the students.
The students said that the use of force on a peaceful and educational program is completely unjust. They demanded that the university security personnel and police personnel involved in the violence be immediately suspended and that action be taken against those responsible.
The protesting students warned that if their demands are not accepted, the protest will be further expanded and the scope will be expanded from tomorrow. The protest has caused tension in the area, while the administration is monitoring the situation.
