ISLAMABAD: To facilitate taxpayers in making over-the-counter (OTC) payments of government duties and taxes, all commercial banks, including NBP branches handling customs collection, will observe extended working hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced.
The decision was made at the request of the FBR to ensure smooth processing of government payments. Banks have been advised to keep relevant branches open on January 31 for as long as required to facilitate the special clearing of government transactions conducted through NIFT.
Additionally, banks have been directed to ensure the uninterrupted availability of online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to enable taxpayers to pay government duties and taxes seamlessly.
This step is aimed at easing the payment process for taxpayers and ensuring the timely settlement of government dues ahead of deadlines.
