BAJAUR: At least three young boys lost their lives and five others sustained injuries when explosive shells left behind by Khawarij militants detonated in Mamund Tehsil of Bajaur.

Police said the explosives had fallen into the hands of children while they were playing. The incident occurred in the same area where, just weeks earlier, a video of Khawarij militants playing cricket with children had gone viral.

Following the explosion, the injured were airlifted to Peshawar and admitted to CMH, where they are under the care of specialist military doctors.

Officials noted that the tragedy highlights the grave threat posed by explosive devices left behind by militants, who have previously used mosques and residential areas as shields for their activities.

Just days ago in the Tirah Valley, several civilians were killed and 14 militants eliminated when stockpiled explosives of the Khawarij went off.
