PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Army has once more shown its dedication to crisis public service. Following a horrific tragedy in the Bajaur area, army helicopters transported injured youngsters to Peshawar for immediate medical care.

Children playing with explosives left behind by terrorists in the Laghri region set off an explosion on September 27 at the Mamund Tehsil of Bajaur. Three youngsters were killed and five others were injured as a result of the explosion.

In the same area a video surfaced some weeks earlier showing insurgents playing cricket with kids, this incident served as a terrifying reminder of the hazards local populations confront.

Earlier, four people were killed and two others injured when an unexploded shell detonated in a field in the Laghrai Mamond area of Bajaur on Saturday.

According to local officials, the victims were working in the field when the device went off. The deceased were identified as Sajjad (18, son of Majeed), Naushad (13, son of Syed Rehman), Fawad (18, son of Dilbar), and Jawad (15, son of Yousaf).

The injured were named as Waqas (17, son of Sher Zaman) and Ataullah (15, son of Gul Wali). All of them were residents of Laghrai Mamond.

The injured, some in critical condition, were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Khar for medical treatment.

Security personnel reached the site shortly after the blast, cordoned off the area, and launched an investigation to determine the origin of the shell.
