‎After a strong reaction against students involved in singing the national anthem of the eternal enemy country at Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the university administration has expelled four pharmacy students from the university.

‎The university administration has revealed that during the two-day festival of the university, some students not only sang the national anthem of India but also raised slogans of ‘Jai Hind’.

‎Video clips of the entire process were made. During the annual festival of Bacha Khan University of Charsadda, a video of people singing the national anthem of India and raising slogans of ‘Jai Hind’ without any justification was also posted by some students on social platforms. The video created outrage among those who watched it, after which it became a serious matter. Pakistani citizens and some student organizations also protested against this video and demanded that the university administration take strict action against those who sang the national anthem of India without justification and preached alleged support for India. According to student organizations, after this video surfaced, demonstrations were held in favor of the Pakistani state inside the university as well. We were just having fun! Jibran Riaz, one of the students who made videos of singing the Indian anthem at his university festival, raising slogans of Jai Hind, and spreading this act, has now claimed that we were just having fun.

‎Jibran Riaz has recorded a video statement and posted it on the social platform. In this statement, he has said that the Indian anthem was sung just for entertainment. He claims that ‘just as students listen to Indian songs, it was also a performance.’ It has been reported that the four people involved in singing the Indian anthem have been expelled by the Bacha Khan University administration. All four of them were studying in the pharmacy department of the university.

‎Today, the university administration has also issued a notification to expel these four people. This decision was taken in light of the recommendations of the 73rd meeting of the University Disciplinary Committee.

‎The university administration said that these students allegedly performed the Indian national anthem within the university premises in a manner that was likely to spread unrest and harm national unity. Moreover, a video of the incident was made and shared on social media.

‎The hostel accommodation of the students expelled from the university was also cancelled and they were instructed to vacate the hostel immediately.
