Babusar Road has been closed for all kind of traffic due to heavy snowfall and bad weather.
According to the district administration, more than eight inches of snowfall was recorded in the Babusar Top area during the last 24 hours, after which the road became dangerous for travel due to slippery and frozen snow.
According to the Meteorological Department, snowfall in the upper areas is likely to continue for the next few days.
The administration has warned travelers to avoid traveling on Babusar Top and Naran-Chilas route during this time and take alternative routes.
A spokesperson for the district administration says that the road will be reopened after the snow is removed and the weather clears. However, only emergency service vehicles are currently allowed to ply.
Like every year, Babusar Road is closed at the beginning of winter and is usually reopened in April or May.
Residents of the area have demanded that the government deploy machinery and personnel to clear the road in a timely manner so that citizens do not face any difficulties in transportation.
