PESHAWAR: Babusar-Naran road is closed to all traffic due to snowfall and severe weather, effective today until further notice.
The Babusar Road, which connects Naran in the Kaghan Valley to Chilas, has been closed for all types of traffic due to dangerous weather conditions.
According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Diamer, the Babusar, Naran Highway has been shut down after fresh snowfall created slippery and hazardous conditions along the route.
The notification further states that security personnel deployed along the Diamer and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border have also been withdrawn due to the deteriorating weather.
Authorities said that heavy snowfall and severe weather have made the Babusar Top and adjoining areas spanning both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan extremely unsafe, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.
The local administration has strongly advised the public to avoid any attempt to travel on the route in order to prevent loss of life or property.
This closure follows the first snowfall of the winter season, a common occurrence in the high-altitude regions of Naran and Babusar Top.
In response to heavy snowfall, the district administration has made the decision to close Babusar Top in Mansehra, imposing restrictions on all types of traffic.
