LAHORE: Pakistan’s star batsman and former captain, Babar Azam, has achieved another milestone by becoming the highest run-scorer in T20 International cricket.
During the second T20 match between Pakistan and South Africa held in Lahore on Friday, Babar came to bat with 4,223 runs in 122 innings across 129 matches. He needed just 9 runs to surpass the record set by Indian captain Rohit Sharma, which he accomplished with ease.
Babar Azam now holds the distinction of being a history-making batsman in T20 International cricket, amassing a total of 4,232 runs, while Rohit Sharma has 4,231 runs in 159 matches. Babar achieved this remarkable feat in only 130 matches and 122 innings, boasting an impressive average of 39.46.
To date, Babar has scored 3 centuries and 36 half-centuries in his T20 career.
It is important to note that Babar Azam, who has led Pakistan to numerous memorable victories with his outstanding batting in the past, has faced criticism recently for a perceived lack of consistency. However, his performance statistics demonstrate that he remains one of the world’s top batsmen, continuously setting record after record at the global level.
