KARACHI: Babar Azam has created history by scoring his 4,000th run in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He is the first player in the history of the Pakistan Super League to score 4,000 runs.
Babar Azam scored the 4,000th run during an innings that proved highly instrumental in making him one of the best players in cricket.
It should be noted here that while Babar Azam made this record in the Pakistan Super League, he did not limit himself to the league only. In addition to this feat, the young cricketer, aged 28, created yet another milestone in T20 cricket as well. He made another record by tying the record of the highest century partnership in T20 cricket. Azam tied this record alongside Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle, the latter set the record with his fellow cricketer.
Whereas Gayle and Kohli managed to achieve this landmark in 455 and 400 T20 games respectively, Azam managed to reach this incredible landmark in just 339 games, indicating his immense consistency in T20 cricket.
Peshawar Zalmi thrashes Lahore Qalandars by 76 runs in PSL
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalandars by 76 runs in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match played at Karachi’s National Stadium, on Saturday.
For Peshawar Zalmi, who batted first, the total score stood at 173 runs with the loss of 7 wickets. Kusal Mendis made a brilliant contribution by scoring 74 runs, while captain Babar Azam made an excellent contribution by scoring 43 runs. In contrast, the best bowler from Lahore Qalandars was Shaheen Shah Afridi, who grabbed 3 wickets, while Mustafizur Rahman also helped his team by grabbing 2 wickets.
Lahore Qalandars again showed poor batting performance in the recent PSL 2026. They scored only 97 runs within 17 overs, far away from the required target. Both Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafiq scored 21 runs, whereas Wesley Madhevere also made an outstanding contribution by scoring 20 runs. Unfortunately, all Lahore Qalandars’ batsmen struggled to stay on the pitch for a considerable period of time.
The performance of the Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers was outstanding. Michael Bracewell and Sufiyan Maqeem made contributions by grabbing 3 wickets each.
