The Islamic Ideology Council has decided in its 243rd meeting that when insulin with halal ingredients is available, diabetics should avoid using insulin containing pork ingredients.

The meeting also rejected the proposed amendment bill in the Diyat law and declared that the Sharia quantities, namely gold, silver, and camels, should remain. The council declared withholding tax as un-Shariah and made the establishment of human milk storage institutions subject to specific conditions.

The council also expressed reservations about the Supreme Court’s September 11 decision. It said that making iddah and maintenance mandatory for a non-Mukda woman in the event of divorce is against the Quran and Sunnah. The Islamic Ideology Council’s major decision, also termed the Diyat bill and withholding tax as un-Islamic.

The meeting was attended by Justice (R) Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Rashid, Sahibzada Pir Khalid Sultan Qadri, Muhammad Jalaluddin Advocate, Allama Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Malikullah Bakhsh Kaliyar, Justice (R) Altaf Ibrahim Hussain Qureshi, Maulana Pir Shams-ur-Rehman Mashhadi, Allama Muhammad Yousaf Awan, Allama Syed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, Professor Dr. Mufti Intikhab Ahmed, Allama Rana Muhammad Shafiq Khan Pasruri, Sahibzada Syed Saeed-ul-Hassan Shah, Sahibzada Hafiz Muhammad Amjad, Ms. Farida Rahim and Barrister Syed Atiq-ur-Rehman Shah Bukhari.
