PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education department has enforced a series of stringent austerity measures, including a blanket ban on official meetings and workshops held outside respective districts for all officers and staff.

According to a notification issued by the department, the new directives also impose a complete ban on the personal use of official vehicles.

Secretariat officers have been further restricted from undertaking any travel without the prior formal approval of the competent authority.

In a bid to curb rising administrative costs, the heads of education boards and autonomous bodies have been specifically directed to slash fuel (POL) expenditures by 50%.

The reforms also aim to modernise administrative processes and reduce footfall in government offices.

Physical attendance of teachers and employees for routine office work has been restricted, with the department making it mandatory to submit all administrative matters, complaints, and leave applications through a dedicated online portal.

Under the new protocol, employees are required to use their personal logins to file documents on the portal.

These measures, aimed at fiscal discipline and digital efficiency, are set to remain in effect through March and April 2026.
