ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar defended public inconvenience during international cricket matches of the T20 tri-nation cricket series and said that strict security measures were vital to restore international cricket in the country.

He said that the restoration of international cricket in Pakistan is the result of a long struggle, and that was the reason that tight security fences were put in place during the movement of international cricket teams as per security requirements. He said that citizens should take the inconvenience of minor delays positively, because without security clearance, the safe movement of teams is not possible. Atta Tarar said that citizens often complain about traffic jams; however, according to him, sometimes one has to wait only 15 to 20 minutes, which should be tolerated. He revealed that he himself is also present on the route and reviews the movement of teams.

The Information Minister said that cricket has returned to Pakistan after great effort, and the cooperation of the public is necessary to take it forward. He gave an example and said that in Sri Lanka, too, tight security arrangements were a part of the routine. According to Atta Tarar, we tend to be quick to criticize minor issues; however, the situation is constantly improving, and it is expected that in the future, citizens will have to endure such inconveniences to a minimum level.
