RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi’s Anti-Terrorism Court has ordered temporary custody of Aleema Khan after her appearance in court.
According to the details, the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court has issued an order to take Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, into temporary custody during the hearing of the case filed in connection with the November 26 protest.
During the court appearance, Aleema Khan requested that her lawyer be allowed to leave temporarily as her lawyer was busy in the Supreme Court. However, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah informed the court that it was necessary to keep the accused in judicial custody under Section 351 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
On the court’s order, Aleema Khan was taken into custody by female police officers as soon as she left the court and taken inside the court. The court clearly directed that the accused should not leave the court premises. Aleema Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Malik, also appeared in the court, and legal proceedings were ongoing in the court. After this order, the matter of Aleema Khan’s temporary custody will continue until the next hearing.
This action is being considered important in the context of protests and related cases in the country, and there have been different reactions to it in political circles.
