The Anti-Terrorism Court Peshawar nominated Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other PTI leaders in the May 09 riot Radio Pakistan attack case.

The police have named Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, former provincial ministers Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Kamran Bangash, PTI district president Irfan Saleem, and activist Aamir Chamkani in the supplementary challan in the Radio Pakistan attack case.

According to the investigating officer, the nomination of the accused was made on the basis of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) report and facial recognition in the videos by NADRA. During the hearing, the investigating officer told the court that he wanted to submit the challan to make it part of the record, but the prosecutor was avoiding receiving it.

Radio Pakistan’s lawyer, Shabbir Hussain Gigyani, has filed an application in the court for action against the Deputy Public Prosecutor and the Public Prosecutor for obstructing the submission of the challan.

Anti-Terrorism Court No. 3 has summoned the Special Public Prosecutor in this matter for the next hearing to find out the reasons for not submitting the challan. The Radio Pakistan Peshawar building was set on fire during violent protests on May 9, 2023.

More than 75 accused have already been indicted in this case, however, after recent forensic reports, the current Chief Minister and other top leadership have also been made part of this investigation. The PTI leadership has been denying these allegations and maintains that the videos in question are not of the Radio Pakistan incident but of the Islamabad protest.
