ABU DHABI: In the ninth match of the Asia Cup 2025, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first against Afghanistan. They scored 154 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Tanzeed Hasan was the standout performer, contributing a brilliant half-century with 52 runs. Saif Hasan added 30 runs, Tohid Hardoi scored 26, and Shamim Hossain played a modest innings of 11 runs. Captain Liton Das managed only 9 runs. In the final overs, Noorul Hasan and Zakir Ali both remained unbeaten at 12 runs each, helping to stabilise the score.
Afghanistan’s spinners delivered impressive performances, with Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed each taking two wickets, while Azmatullah Umarzai claimed one wicket.
It’s important to note that if Afghanistan wins this match, they will qualify for the Super Four stage. Conversely, Bangladesh’s chances of advancing in the tournament hinge on securing a victory in this match.
