ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and ex-National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser remarked that nobody dares to enforce governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, further stating that a province cannot operate under this arrangement.

Addressing the press, Qaiser called on the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to specify its position on the governor’s rule. He inquired if Ahmed Karim Kundi’s remarks represented the party’s viewpoint stressing that PTI is capable of defending itself and that governor’s rule is not under anyone’s authority.

Qaiser‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ emphasized PTI’s commitment to peace and called for the full use of resources to fight terrorism. He underlined the necessity to empower the communities with the decisions taken by the authorities and expressed his view that it would be better if provincial governments and political parties were consulted. He charged the government with ignoring the importance of national jirgas that, among other things, included political parties, in fact, he was referring to the government’s total negligence of ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌jirgas.

Responding to criticism of PTI rallies, Qaiser asked whether their speeches were harsher than press conferences by Atta Tarar, noting that all rally speeches remained within the limits of the Constitution and law. “We will continue our struggle within constitutional boundaries and utilize all legal avenues available to us,” he said.

He faulted the existing PTI leadership for their lack of unity stating that this is complicating governance at the tier.

Haideri also pointed out worries about the registration problems of madrassas and the failure to execute the suggestions from the Islamic Ideology Council, describing these postponements as alarming.
