MUMBAI: One of Bollywood’s most popular and successful voices, Indian singer Arijit Singh, has shocked the music world by announcing that he is retiring from playback singing as he believes he has reached the pinnacle of his career. The news has left fans in a state of shock, with many finding it hard to accept what they have read.
Singh used his Instagram account to break the unexpected news. He opened the post with a thankful message to his fans, saying, “I want to thank all of you who have showered me with so much love as a fan over the years. ” He also wished everyone a happy New Year at the end of his message.
In his message, Singh revealed that he was quitting playback singing as he had decided to close the chapter of his singing career.
He said, “It is a story that ends here for me because I have had a wonderful journey of life. ”
The news of Singh leaving the music industry was roundly challenged by his legions of fans on social media who expressed their shock at the news in virtually every possible way. The singer has produced many iconic songs in Bollywood and therefore, the news of his nature was a little hard to digest for most of his fans.
None of the details explaining the rationale behind the singer’s retirement from playback singing has been disclosed by the artist.

The statement confirmed that Arijit Singh will continue making music but he will stop performing playback singing for movies.
