The issue related to the appointment of the opposition leader in the National Assembly is close to being resolved. Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has assured the PTI that the appointment of the opposition leader will be completed by tomorrow, and a notification in this regard will also be issued.
After meeting the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar, while talking to the media, said that there is no other candidate for the post of opposition leader compared to Mahmood Khan Achakzai. He said that no political deal or other matters were discussed during the meeting in the Speaker’s office.
On the other hand, PTI Member of the National Assembly Aamir Dogar has also written a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly demanding the immediate issuance of a notification for the appointment of the opposition leader. In the letter, Aamir Dogar took the position that there is no grouping in the PTI and that Mahmood Khan Achakzai has been unanimously nominated as the opposition leader.
Senior PTI leader and former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser said that the issue of the opposition leader has been resolved after a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly, and an official notification will likely be issued today or tomorrow.
Asad Qaiser further said that the impression that February 8 will be the final call of the PTI is not correct, but rather it is the beginning of a struggle. He said that the party is ready for a long political struggle, while the opposition alliance will also visit Karachi in the coming days.
He clarified that the opposition wants meaningful negotiations, the aim of which is to lay the foundation of a new democratic charter so that the democratic system can be strengthened in the country.
According to political circles, after the appointment of the opposition leader, the role of the opposition in the National Assembly is expected to be more effective, while a new phase is also likely to begin in parliamentary politics.
