ISLAMABAD: Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said, while warning India that those who impose war will be given a response in the same way as was given in May.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, while talking to reporters on Sunday, said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country, but those who impose war will be given a response in the same way as was given in May.
Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir spoke to reporters on the occasion of a luncheon given in honour of King Abdullah II of Jordan at the Presidential Palace.
Field Marshal Asim Munir added that Allah Almighty has raised Pakistan’s head in the war against India. Pakistan always takes a strong stand for its defence and sovereignty.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and King Abdullah II of Jordan met, and they discussed further strengthening the relations between the two countries.
The meeting emphasised the promotion of economic, trade, investment, health, education and defence cooperation.
The leaders reiterated their commitment to increasing strategic and economic cooperation and also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the region and global forums. King Abdullah II praised Pakistan for supporting Jordan on the Gaza issue, while regional security and peace initiatives were also discussed in detail.
The two countries reiterated their common position on the Palestinian issue and strongly opposed the forced eviction of Palestinians from Gaza. They also agreed to enhance close coordination with eight Arab Islamic countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Asim Munir and other federal ministers were also present at the meeting. The Prime Minister briefed King Abdullah II on the situation related to Afghanistan and India, to which King Abdullah praised Pakistan’s role in maintaining peace in the region.
Upon arrival in the federal capital, President Asif Ali Zardari, the Prime Minister, Federal Minister for Climate Change Mosaddeq Malik and Minister of State for Education Wajih Qamar warmly welcomed King Abdullah II and his high-level delegation at the airport.
