PESHAWAR: A nationwide vaccination campaign for measles, rubella, and polio will be held from November 17 to 29.

The Health Department has announced a Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign aimed at children aged six months to five years in both private and public schools throughout Pakistan.

This campaign will run from November 17 to November 29, 2025, during which vaccination teams will visit schools and educational institutions to administer the protective MR vaccine to all eligible children.

To maximize coverage, follow-up activities will be organized for children who miss the initial vaccination. All schools and institutions in Peshawar are required to assist health teams and support the vaccination process.

The Education Department has stressed that legal action will be taken against private schools that refuse to cooperate with the MR campaign. Officials highlighted that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance child health and prevent outbreaks of measles and rubella in the district.

The vaccination campaign aims to protect 35.4 million children aged six months to 59 months and address an immunity gap that could leave over 6.7 million children under the age of five years at high risk of infection next year.

It highlighted that over 57 percent of the more than 16,000 measles cases reported in 2025, as of Sept. 30, were among children who had never received a vaccine dose.
